I don’t want to go out anymore. In the evening, I mean. It’s too dark, too cold and too expensive. And so I’ve come to an agreement with my friends. From now on, we only meet for breakfast. And can I just say that it is an absolute joy?
Forget trying to book a table weeks in advance. Forget trudging to the train station in the dark and the rain. Forget expensive Ubers home. And forget hangovers. Everything is better in the morning. You might even go somewhere fancy since you’re (probably) not drinking and Eggs Benedict tends to be a lot cheaper than 15 ‘sharing plates.’
There is also a magic in simply breezing into town, without having endured a mad rush to do pick-up, bath and bedtime or to send that last crucial work email. You should be able to sink into a social occasion, not sprint to it.
