It’s a pain trying to arrange a weekend away with your mates, isn’t it? Just aligning calendars and budgets is enough to put you off even trying. But, somehow, my work friends from my 20s manage to pull it off every year.
I’m so glad, because we’re now in our 40s and we need a break. We’re all happy in our lives, but we’re also tired, stressed and inevitably filled with mum guilt of some sort or other. That’s just being a woman of a certain age, isn’t it?
And as much as everyone tells you that once you start HRT, everything will be fine, forever – sometimes I reckon you actually just need a couple of nights on the sauce with friends who know you properly. Maybe both, actually?
This year we went to Sandwich in Kent. All I knew about it was that the drunk, posh couple from Gogglebox lived there (interesting article for those of you who remember them) and it is also the birthplace of the sandwich. What’s not to like?
